The Coastal Pirates met up with the Flyers in a tough divisional game. Because
it has been a while, I am not really sure how many skaters we had or who
composed the roster.
The 1st period was the usual hard-fought affair when you face the Flyers
as both teams battled. The Flyers got on the board first, but the
tandem of LeMatty and Russ evened the score by the first intermission on
a LeMatty tally.
The 2nd period was all Flyers and they managed to jump out to a two-goal
lead and looked to take control of the contest.
Then, with less than 2:00 minutes remaining in the 3rd, Dan DiPierro pounded
home a rebound from a Keith Richardson shot to draw the Pirates within one.
In the final moments, the Pirates had a few chances to tie it up, but fell
short as time expired. Overall a pretty solid effort, against an A
team.
