The Wednesday Coastal Pirates made it a clean sweep
this week, going two-for-two when they sealed a 7-4 victory over the Phantoms.
The lineup was the same as Monday except Scooby took Craig's spot. This
game also saw the return of Mike Farrell (fresh from his big loss at racing
school to Herv) and he would add a goal in the 1st period. Along with Mike,
both Miller Bros. and Russ added goals in the 1st allowing the Pirates to
take
a somewhat commanding 4-1 lead into the 2nd.
While the offense was lighting the lamp, the defense took care of the Phantoms.
They never let them setup in the zone for any length of time and kept the
opposition's shots to the outside. With Harris making the key saves when
he was called upon, the Pirates controlled this game from start to finish.
The lone goal in the 2nd was scored by Scooby, and by the second buzzer
the Pirates still held the three-goal lead at 5-2.
In the 3rd, once again the Miller Bros. would each strike giving the Pirates
the largest offensive barrage of the season. The Phantoms did play us to
a 2-2 tie in the period, but by then the outcome was sealed. Scott Miller
led the way with a four-point night and Evan added a not-too-shabby three-point
evening. The good news is we went swept both games this week; the bad news
is that the games start to run together when writing the newsletter, so
forgive me for this being short and sweet.
