WEDNESDAYS #1 vs. PHANTOMS:

(vol. 18W, no. 1; newsletter by k.r.)
Well the Summer Wednesday season began and the Coastal Pirates are on their way to an undefeated-and-unscored-upon campaign. In a display of offensive prowess the Pirates bested the Phantoms 1-0. Actually, both netminders played well, and it may also take some doing to maintain the undefeated-and-unscored-upon thing too.

The only goal of the game came in the 1st period when Keith flipped the puck into the right corner and Evan dug it out into the crease where Brian put it in; he gained control while on his knees and tucked the biscuit into the left-side of the net. The Phantoms and Pirates would spend the rest of this contest swapping scoring chances. When the opposition started to shift the balance of the game over to their side, Harris was there and came up big, time-and-time again. He seems to have found his groove again, because he is starting to string along some great games.

Harris' saves were starting to frustrate the Phantoms and late in the 3rd period it came to a head: As the puck came along the left wing boards, Jimmy Ferraro and #9 bumped as as they passed each other; #9 took a huge swing at Jimmy and Jimmy took exception and the donnybrook
(don·ny·brook: a noun. meaning an uproar, or free-for-all. see also “brawl”) was on — Jimmy received 2:00 minutes and #9 received a game misconduct and will miss this week (the third, fourth, fifth and sixth men in the melee were spared penalties).

In conclusion, I will leave you with this quote from Scott Baldwin: “Remember a few years back when they thought GoodSports might collapse due to structural problems? Well, if the building collapsed right now Brian Newcomb is the Pirates leading scorer for the Summer season. How scary is that!”
