Even with an abbreviated line-up due to our 11:00pm gametime (only two subs),
we played an aggressive game. Ralz scored first on a beautiful feed from
Dan to put us up 1-0.
That score held deep into the 2nd period when, in the final seconds of a
powerplay, Roger headed straight into the enemy zone and shot and then rebounded
his own shot in. We carried the 2-0 into second break.
The game turned a bit chippy in the 3rd but Russ quickly ended that when
he “went for the puck” in such a way that the one guy on the Sabres
paid dearly, and was a little gun-shy afterwards (Russ did get a penalty
on that play though!). We killed off three powerplays on the night and a
6-man attack (when they pulled their goalie) to get our first win of the
Sunday season.
