Our game against the Jags B went better than against the Jags A, although
we were hard-pressed to find differences in their roster. They scored in
the first 27 seconds on a shot that, I believe, must have actual transported
itself through my right pad. In any case, they led 1-0 until Dan DiPierro
(usually a Sunday-only Pirate) popped in a rebound over the sprawling goalie
during a powerplay. The Jags regained the lead until Jim and Russ pressed
down ice Russ got the goal, Jim got the assist. We carried the 2-2
tie into the first break.
The Jags regained the lead 3-2, but we continued to press until a chip-pass
at center off was knocked away by a Jag who found a hole for breakaway.
This play was followed by Russ' version of Bobby Orr's famous flying
through the air photograph, as he dove about 2 minutes too
late after the Jag who slapped the shot in. That goal, with just
2:00 minutes left in the 2nd, took our momentum away and we went in the
second break trailing 4-2.
The Jags added a pair of goals (including a PPG) in the 3rd.
