A goal in the opening :90 second followed by a redirected slapshot shortly
after, was all the points the Phantoms needed to spoil our .500 season.
Although we held them off for the remainder of the period, the 2-0 score
seemed insurmountable.
Another redirection in the waning seconds of the 2nd, was the only goal
of the period and the Phantoms led comfortably 3-0 after two.
The 3rd period saw more action in our zone as The Phantoms got another goal
on shot which pinged off the post and found it's way in the net. They followed-up
with two more goals -- including a powerplay goal (that richoceted off the
post, into my skate, and into the net). Russ scored the only Pirate goal
of the game midway through the 3rd on a scramble in front of John Arena
to spoil his shutout bid.
