We found out on Saturday evening that many Coastal Pirates DO have better
things to do on Saturday evenings besides play rollerhockey. We had six
guys on our "shortened" bench, but those present (Russ, Wildman,
Ralz, Roger, Dave and Scott LeMatty) played like madmen and pretty much
kept all the action away from me (which was great because I was still jet-lagged).
Anyways, Wildman scored first on a powerplay, but the Jags C answered back
to keep us tied 1-1 at the first break.
Wildman found the net again in the 2nd to give us the lead again, but once
again the Jags stormed back to tie things up.
Russ gave us the 3-2 lead (which we carried into the 2nd break), but the
Jags opened-up the scoring in the 3rd to again gridlock us at 3-3. It was
Ralz (assist to Scott LeMatty) who again gave us the lead on his goal and,
finally, Scott's insurance goal that quashed the Jag hopes for a comeback.
The highlights of the game: A Jag player holding onto Ralz's leg in the
final moments and losing complete control when he was called for a penalty;
and, during the 2nd, Ralz smashing into me and nearly ending my brilliant
goaltending career.
