With our undefeated streak on the line, we faced our old rivals the Jags
"B" (or is that A/B?). We survived a couple of odd-man rushes
and then countered with a score from an offensive-zone face-off by Scott
Miller (assist from Glen Chambers).
That 1-0 score held for the remainder of the 1st and then BB gave us a 2-goal
lead when he shot quickly through traffic (assist to Scott). Throughout
the 2nd and into the 3rd our play was great forwards were covering
the points and using the body (kudos to Brian and Glen) and we were working
to flush the puck from behind their net and feed our forwards (nice hustle
by Allen all night long). Chris shadowed Mezzo (their best guy)
and just made his life a misery and kept him largely ineffectual.
In the 3rd, Russ broke up ice, but when he lost the puck, Scott Miller was
there to slap a low, fast shot for his second goal of the night to give
us a 3-0 lead. With just under 10 minutes remaining, the Jags finally got
on the board on a floater from the point that made it through upper stickside.
Although the Jags were hoping to swing the momentum with that goal, we never
gave them the chance and continued to out-hustle them as the minutes ticked
off. With about a minute remaining, the Jags pulled their goalie and Scott
narrowly missed his hat-trick into the empty net. It took Rob's full-length
shot with time expiring to give us back our 3 goal lead.
THE
SILVER
SKULLS
1) SCOTT
MILLER
For his 3-point night.
2) CHRIS GOIONE
For shutting down Mezzo some much so, that he finally threw his stick
up in the air in frustration.
3)
ROB ARMSWOOD
An ironman on D, he broke up a ton of Jag rushes and was a 1-man
show when his defensive partner would press forward.
