28S, no. 11; newsletter by brooks)
This is the chance we had been waiting for. After our collapse last week (when we surrendered a three-goal lead and settled for a tie), we were once-again facing the Jaguars. We were much more prepared today and showed-up in the form of the No.1-ranked team facing the No.4-seed.
We had the usual suspects on the bench with the exception of Joe Baio, who was subbing for a flu-ridden Kevin. Mike Riccardi — or should I say, the always late Mike Riccardi (thanks McIntyre) — was in net playing for the oft-injured Harris. We started slow, only scoring once in the 1st period. The goal by Tony (assist Gucci) put the Pirates on the board, but we still trailed 2-1 at the break. In true Pirate tradition, the Jags second goal went off defenseman Joe Baio after Riccardi made the original save.
The final 22:00-minutes would be all Pirates though. Our game-tying goal, a bad bounce that went our way, was the result of a shot I took off the faceoff (like I used to do to Harris all the time); the Jags' goalie misplayed it and Dan DiPierro was there to tuck in the rebound to make it 2-2. The Pirates added three more tallies during the final frame: Dan (assist tony), Gucci (unassisted), and Gucci (assist Tony). Those goals, combined with some flashy saves by Riccardi, sealed the fate of the Jags and put the Pirates in the Championship game. Next up, the St.Pats ... and a chance for some more revenge — this time from last season's Finals.

THE
SILVER
SKULLS
1) DAN DIPIERRO
For his impressive 2-goal outing (including the GWG).
2) DARREN GUGGLIELMELLI
For his 3-point night.
(And finding the matching “women's model” of the Pirate watch. See below for details.)
3) MIKE RICCARDI
For some nice stops, including a memorable glove save.
You may remember that Gucci found a Pirate watch a few weeks back. Well he didn't want the ladies to be left out, so he located a pink version for our better halves. Or, as Dave Matthews likes to say: “To our wives and girlfriends — may they never meet!”
