(vol.
30S, no. 7; newsletter by h.s.)
It was a dark and stormy night.
That's pretty much what I remember about this outing.
I tried to get Kevin “Murf” Murphy to write this newsletter since he played a strong game (scoring twice and assisting on another), but he emailed back that he couldn't recall enough of the night's events either. I do know we had nine Pirates (Russ was out ill) and that this was a “Battle of the Brothers” — as Glenn Farkas faced brother Bobby who suited-up for the Puck Hogs.
We took a two-goal lead on tallies by Tony and Dan DiPierro, but former-Pirate Bobby (after being stopped on his first attempt earlier in the period), one-timed a shot to half our lead to 2-1. Brooks and Murf would add tallies before the 1st period ended, giving the Pirates a comfortable 4-1 lead at the break.
Both team scored twice in the final 22:00 minutes, but gap was never closer than a pair and the Pirates cruised to their sixth win in seven games. For the final game, the Pirates will be tested against the A-division Bruins before a Labor Day break that leads to the Playoffs.
Word has it that there will be women at the next post-game “meeting.” Ralz will attempt to pay his “fine” by bringing the St. Pauli Girls that were rained-out this week.

A MEANER SHARK
FOR SAN JOSE
The Pirates aren't the only franchise to get new jerseys in '07. The San Jose Sharks will debut the redesign of their “more intimidating logo” this season. The new look (ironically) coincides with the launch of the new Rbk Edge Uniform System — which means fans get to run out and buy all new replica jerseys!
