SUNDAYS #2 vs. CANNIBALS:

(vol. 36S, no. 2; newsletter by r.n.)
The Sunday Pirates fought off the results of some sloppy 1st period play and went on to dominate the final period and win convincingly 7-4 over the Cannibals. It was nice bounce-back victory for the members of both Pirate teams as we had lost a tough game to the Cannibals the prior Wednesday.

Although the Pirates carried the play throughout the 1st period — which included a highlight-reel goal by Jay on a pretty feed from Tony, and a rare powerplay goal when Jay tallied again on a rebound off a Mike Farrell point blast — we were only tied 2-2 at the break.

Jay completed the natural hattrick when he opened the second stanza with a goal off another feed from Tony. After Tony and Jay teamed-up to do the heavy lifting and hoisted open the flood gates, the rest of the Pirates rushed through: Goals by Gucci (off a faceoff), Glenn (on a rebound from a tough angle), Mike (on an own-goal deflection), and me (off a nice corner feed from Scott L). Harris made the needed stops mid-game when we wrestled control of the match away from the Cannibals.

The victory was dedicated to the Miller brothers who lost their Dad this week. The collective thoughts of the Pirates and our families are with Evan and Scott and their families. The team meeting was a solemn event as it was very cold and the group discussed the loss of parents. Only the hearty hunters stuck it out for very long.

Happy Holidays. 99
