Greeting from JetRock! At Philly airport.
I think I used up all my bad lunch analogies the last time we played the infamous Lunch Ladies so perhaps it's best we stick to the game.
To start it was a pretty peaceful affair until the Pirates earned themselves a lead and held it for awhile. The Ladies started looking more like the Angry Janitors after a food fight in the Cafeteria. Their anger was mostly targeted at refs Vincent and Dave, who were struggling to keep this roughly contested affair under control. The abuse got a bit heavy, but never got out of hand with Papa Bobby patrolling the scorers box.
Lematty took things into his own hands when Harris got a late poke on a tardy whistle in the 1st period and then we were in a battle. To our credit we kept our heads, took advantage of miscues and earned a pleasantly surprising victory.
Dan lead all goal scorers and had the final one of the night after winning a faceoff into the open net to seal the deal. Rud worked hard for one that turned out to be the gamewinner. Glenn got us started off with a lightning fast goal in the opening :18 seconds of the game to give us the quick 1-0 lead (on a nice feed from John). I tallied on my own rebound and John put in a shorthander that noticeably deflated the Ladies. And that's all she wrote.
The defense was stellar all night as Joe and Harris lead the way. Ed gets a Purple Heart for going down and blocking a shot from short range then, after icing for awhile, came back and contributed to the thwarting of any late heroics from the Ladies.
Wow ... nice win!
