The Pirates came into this game seeing red and clearly wanted vengeance from the Week One debacle. Although the Pirates would have seven different scorers on the night, Scott LeMatty clearly led the offensive effort as he tallied two in the 1st and added the one for the hat late in the final period.
By halftime The Pirates how compiled a healthy 6-0 lead and it looked like Joe Nigro would get out early to watch the Giants, since we were on a cusp of the Mercy with 17:00-minutes remaining. But the Jags fought back valiantly and chipped in three of their own goals (granted Eddie Gesior gets the credit for the first that went in off him). Kev, who was subbing this night, wrapped-up the evening's scorefest with a pair of his own.
With the second lopsided game in two weeks, we are now 1-1 on the season with 9 goals for and 8 goals against — about as even as you can get.
