KEN “KENNYG” GENALO
CENTER

NUMBER: 51
SHOOTS: Right
HEIGHT: 6’3”
WEIGHT: 210
BORN: Brooklyn, New York
LIVES: Brick, New Jersey
ACQUIRED: Via a sitdown with the Brooklyn LCN (Baio & Googie). The Coastal Pirates received a government stipend due to his signing.
BIO: Genalo's rollerhockey career began humbly in Brooklyn. “You gave blood at one of the local rinks — Ft. Hamilton, Parkville or Kings Bay. There was no such thing as 'In-Line' skates or 'Rollerblades' and when it snowed, your games were cancelled till you shoveled the rink. Thankfully, I moved on to ice hockey and never looked back.” Genalo acted as player/coach for the past three decades, winning the CHSHL Championship (1984-85) as a player with Xaverian High School, and the LVSHL Non-Pure Varsity Championships twice (2006-07 & 2007-08) as a coach with the Stroudsburg/Pocono River Rats. His Coastal Pirate debut in 2008 marks a return to his roots: “I have come back full circle to where I started with rollerhockey, but with an ice hockey twist (in-line skates).”

QUOTE: “Hockey is more than a game — there is no other athlete that puts it ALL on the line, even if it is just a beer league. This game is all about PASSION, COMRADERIE and TEAMWORK. The game has given so much to me that I am glad I can give back to the game whenever I get the chance.”
