Coming off a season of injuries and sidelined players (Jimmy, Kevin, Glenn,
Dan Pomphrey), our game Wednesday night featured many new players in the
lineup. Unfortunately, our first game together was against the often-chippy,
high-power Stars who beat us twice last season (5-1, 4-0). On the Stars'
first run down ice they scored and they added another on a scramble at our
crease to go up 2-0 at the first break.
We played them pretty tough during the second period, allowing only onegoal
(a redirected shot by one of their forwards). Brian Kleiman foiled the shut-out
bid midway through the third as he put a lose puck over the sprawling Stars
goalie. Two more Stars goals (including one by OUR own captain who re-directed
a puck in front of our net for a score) finished up the 3rd period.
