SUNDAYS #10 vs. JAGUARS:

(vol. 28S, no. 10; newsletter by brooks)
There are not too many games where you fall flat on your face like we did tonight. It was looking good early, but we faded down the stretch in an important game for us. Allow me to explain why this was an important game for us: The Jags are our first Playoff opponent so we needed a good showing for confidence heading into the post-season.

This is how it went done: First, I took my daily penalty in the 1st period and again we scored shorthanded — go figure (Tony unassisted). Then, we got a goal from our defensive corps when Kevin (assist Mike) gave us a 2-1 lead at the break. It was looking good at that point.

Tony scored twice early in the final period (assists to Brooks) and soon we were up comfortably 4-1. But that's where it went wrong. We took a rash of penalties including one on Tony with :80 seconds remaining, which led to the tying goal. We gave up a three-goal lead, and couldn't win it it overtime. But at least we can look forward to some revenge next week in the Semifinals.
