SUNDAYS #3 vs. KINGS:

(vol. 28S, no. 3; newsletter by brooks)
The Pirates went into the first Sunday of the new year to take on the Kings. These Kings are not to be confused with the Kings of last season as they are a different looking bunch — “new and improved” for 2007. The Pirates lined-up with Russ-Tony-Dan as the first line and Brooks-LeMatty-Farkas as the checking line. On defense was the trio of (the always subbing) Joe Baio-Gucci-Murf.

The 1st period was like skating in cement. The only goal came from Baio (assist to Brooks) on the powerplay at about the halfway mark. At the buzzer the Men In Black held a slim 1-0 lead.

The final 22:00 minutes was much more lively as we had good flow and it resulted in alot of shots — and three goals. The three unanswered tallies were a top-shelf slapper from Gucci (assist to Farkas), a slam-dunk from Dan (assist to Russ), and the exclamation point on the evening to Tony (assist to Murf). It was a good all-around game for having ... especially considering the amount of time since our last skate. Harris again was solid in picking-up the shutout. Certainly a great way for us to ring in the New Year — and hopefully a sign of good things to come.

COASTAL COASTER?
I was at Boston's bar in Neptune the other week and I got this unusual coaster beneath my beer. It asks you who the best all-time hockey players were. I guess Russ is even more famous than we thought ...
