SUNDAYS #4 vs. BULLDOGS:

(vol. 30S, no. 4; newsletter by h.s.)
Not actually being at the game is a disadvantage when trying to write a newsletter, but I was able to piece together some of the events that took place on the evening of July 29:

We had (I think) ten players: Brooks, Murf, Anthony, Ralz, Glenn, Mike, LeMatty and Dan from the regular roster; subbing for Captain Russ and Kev were Alternate Captains Gucci and Chris. In between the pipes for the Pirates was Doug Collimore.

Now, here's where things get a bit vague. Apparently we had a horrible 1st period (highlighted by a goal with less than :05 remaining on the clock in the first frame). Doug admitted —via email — this was not his best effort and said he also injured his shoulder after a Bulldog ran into him on a wraparound attempt. The Pirates quickly found themselves down 7-1 and their undefeated streak in jeopardy. After some more unsuccessful play (including a blown 5-on-3 powerplay), the Pirates rallied, scoring four unanswered goals ... but the comeback was not to be.

Other notable performances that I was able to glean from the stats sheet included: Mike's goal and assist; Tony's three-point night (two goals and one assist); and Brooks' goal.
