WEDNESDAYS #1 vs. BUCKSHOT:

(vol. 37W, no. 1; newsletter by b.n.)
I must have lost the stats ... doesn't matter ...

The Pirates started the new season against their new nemesis — the Buckshot. It was just a couple weeks ago when we played them in the first round of the Playoffs. It was also when Tony got his panties all in a wad. For those reading this that are tired of the whole writer vs. Tony feud, I promise this will be the last I mention it. If you are really fed up with it, please skip to the next paragraph where the game recap will be included. But until then: Tony, Tony, Tony. You just don't get it. You think you get it, but you don't. I was actually somewhat amused by your last newsletter, but you didn't quite hit the nail on the head (it was more of a glancing blow, that ricochets off the nail head and smashes your thumb). You are quite correct that the newsletter is somewhat 67centric at times, but it is never as one-sided as you describe (but since I can understand the art of parody I get it). However, you left out one important feature: When I write, I write about the good and (more often) the bad. No one complains when I write that “Tony skated past #67 like he was a revolving door” or when Harris says “We'd be better off rolling a head of cabbage on the rink then letting #67 play the final two minutes of the game on defense.” However, when I write something about another player, I get the response: “What a load of shit to put up on the bulletin board to get the blood flowing. Using a fellow Coastal Pirate like that is wrong, inappropriate, nay, BUSH LEAGUE! #67 misquoted and twisted my words around to make me look like an asshole.” Hmmm.

Now to the game ... S&#^%@! It's freakin' Daylight Savings Time (ALREADY)? I just lost an hour — gotta go! Next game is Monday! Against (you guessed it) the Cannibals and Tony.

THE

1) MARTY MACCANICO
For a sweet one-timer. (The only tally in the final period for either team.)

2) JOHN CASSENS
For the first goal of the night.

2) SCOTT MILLER
For his great pass to Marty for the goal (but mostly for hosting another awesome Mardi Gras extravaganza that was well-attended in Pirate-land.)
