WEDNESDAYS #6 vs. HOCKY TEEM:

(vol. 38W, no. 6; newsletter by h.s.)
With our usual newsletter writer making his way to Nova Scotia in search of Cubans and double-the-alcohol beer, I'm forced to take over his duties. Following in his footsteps, I've waited a week to write this so the detail are a blur.

As best as I can recall we won ... the 1st period. Rich, playing forward for the first time as a Pirate, won a goal-line scramble that gave the Pirates the only goal of the first 22:00 minutes. Unfortunately, the Hocky Teem scored twice (within :45 seconds) early in the final period and that was the end of the night's scoring. Other highlights of the game included: Mike asking me if there was a shark fishing tournament going on since I was floundering around all over the crease; and an oldie-but-goldie “too many men on the ice” penalty that we got nailed for late in the game.

Although it was a bummer to lose, it wasn't nearly as much of a bummer as Jason having a fire in his stained glass factory over the weekend or Mike's house getting hit by lightning. In other words, there was a plenty to talk about at the post-game “meeting.”
