WEDNESDAYS #1 vs. CANNIBALS:

(vol. 44W, no. 1; newsletter by b.n.)
editor's note: We now continue our saga. In Part II we play the second consecutive game vs. the Cannibals in two nights. The first game of this home-at-home had 22:00-minutes of penalties (tied for 3rd most on the Pirate All-Time list). Without further adieu ...
Never before has so much attention been focused on a regular season game ... Sure their has always been a lot of talk rolling into Playoff games ... But nothing has ever approached what happened last Monday night. Why you ask? Well, If you don't know I suggest you click here and read the preceding Sunday night newsletter.

So with the Pirates set for a rematch with the Cannibals just 24 hours after what one Pirate described as Armageddon, the emails started going out hot and heavy (but as luck would have it there happened to be a couple “part-time” Pirates included on the cc ... And that probably would not have been a big deal if the players in question didn't play the other part of with — you guessed it — the Cannibals. Needless to say the Cannibals had some bulletin board posting material to get started with. And add to that the fact that Bob Corrao called John Arena at home to find out exactly what went down behind the benches in the previous night's game ... And the subsequent decision to suspend Rockhill did not sit well with the Cannibals of course.

Anyway if you thought that Monday was going to be a repeat of Sunday you were, quite simply, mistaken ... Unless you were Eddie Geisor that is, who seemed to have his number called once too many times by the refs.

The Pirates but up a battle, but despite a lead-off goal by Kevin and another by #67 ... They just couldn't pull it out. Well at least no one got suspended ...
